UFC 210

In what will be remembered more for controversy than anything else, UFC 210 was a top flight card, The Women’s strawweight fight was outstanding, Christine Calvillo is going to be a contender for the strawweight title sooner rather than later.

Patrick Cote vs. Thiago Alves ended with a convincing Alves victory, but will be remembered for Cote dropping his gloves in the octagon, signifying the end of his career. Chris Weidman vs. Mousasi was controversial to say the least, Mousasi won by TKO, but it was how he won. he hit two legal knee strikes, one had been deemed illegal, the referee stepped in, gave Weidman 5 minutes to recover, and had the doctor check him out, in the meantime, the replay was reviewed and the knee strikes were deemed legal, but, replay review is not allowed in NY State, the doctor deemed Weidman couldn’t continue, and the fight was stopped.

In the main event, Daniel Cormier retained the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, making Anthony Johnson tap out, but, after the fight, Anthony Johnson, called it a career, one of the most dynamic knockout artists in UFC history has called it quits. And Cormier was jawing with Jimmy Manuai and Jon Jones who happened to be sitting octagon side, Jon Jones is expected back in the UFC in a few months, by July I believe, and a fight between him and Cormier would burn the house down, Cormier itching to avenge his only loss.
