UFC President Dana White was asked about the future in MMA For Former WWE And World Heavyweight Champion Phil ‘CM Punk’ Brooks, and he said that Punk’s MMA career ‘should be a wrap’, Brooks has lost badly in both of his appearances inside the octagon, and he was failed to make a smooth transition from the WWE to the UFC. Granted, it’s a hard transition, but, I guess everyone thinks they can be Brock Lesnar who was successful in both the WWE and the UFC, but, Lesnar is a once in a lifetime athlete, I mean, Ronda Rousey is the exact opposite, she’s trying to make the transition from UFC fighter to WWE Superstar, something that yes, Lesnar did as well, but, he was already successful in the WWE well before his UFC run. Now Brooks has nowhere near the pedigree that Lesnar and Rousey have, but, after having a falling out with WWE managemewnt, he decided to give MMA a try, and he found out that it’s not an easy transition, you need to have the skill set of Brock Lesnar, who was at least an NCAA Wrestling heavyweight champion, I think Brooks biggest mistake was trying to compete in one of the lower weight classes, I think he was either a middleweight or a welterweight, we he competed for WWE he wrestled consistently at over 200lbs, that’s heavyweight in the UFC, but, the heavyweights are some big, imposing dudes, Punk is not that.
In all honesty, I wouldn’t have made the transition if I were CM Punk, as I said, you need a skill set like a Brock Lesnar, like a ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey, and don’t get me wrong, Rousey is still trying to prove herself in WWE, it still remains to be seen whether she can make that transition. She’s had one televised match, and next Sunday, she’ll have her second.
In my opinion, CM Punk needs to return to wrestling, work for ROH, Punk is an incredible worker inside the ring, just think of the matches he could put on if he’s matched against ‘The American Nightmare’ (I still think that’s disrespectful to his father) Cody Rhodes.
Return to wrestling CM Punk.
